I am a big fan of The Happiest Baby on the Block (DVD) and I highly recommend it as a quick, yet highly effective guide for new parents.  I watched it in desparation for the first time at 12:30AM with a screaming baby in my arms.

One of the techniques described is the use of White Noise to calm and soothe your baby.  I personally found the hair dryer to work great, but what do you do when a hair dryer isn't available?  What do you do if you're in the car?

That's why I created a free recording of the sound of a hair dryer for those of you who have a baby with colic or a fussy baby in general.

I'm not an expert at the matter, but many experts do recommend the use of white noise in general as a remedy for calming an upset infant.
